Making Music in Mississippi

Adrian Kosky and Carla Maxwell have been playing up, down in Mississippi. They were invited to join the Tuesday Night Pickers in Cleveland, Mississippi, in June 2026.

A group of senior citizens has been gathering weekly for many years to share music on Tuesday evenings. Some professionals, some amateurs, a few beginners, everyone seems welcome to attend and/or share a song or a tune. Often, the music sessions are shared via live video by Alice Barbieri to a facebook group: Tuesday Night Pickers. Here's a portion of one of Alice's live videos. 

 

  

  

Returning to Radio Springs Hotel - October 13, 2023!

After recent trips to Clarksdale, Mississippi, in April and September, they’re ready to get right back to making Table Hill music in Lyonville, Victoria, at the Radio Springs Hotel.

In September 2023, folk musician/singer songwriter Grant Peeples journeyed from Tallahassee, Florida, to The Holy Moly in Clarksdale to perform a house concert, helping Adrian and Carla celebrate the 100th birthday of the old masonic building/their American home.

Next year, Kosky & Maxwell will invite other musicians who are traveling through or to Clarksdale into their home to perform house concerts to attentive audiences in their "listening room," The Holy Moly Theatre.

In the meantime, Adrian and Carla will be playing up at Radio Springs Hotel in Lyonville, Victoria, Australia....the Centre of the Universe.

A Bit More About Table Hill From 2022

Adrian and Carla were happy to be able to travel to and from the USA again! In 2022 the couple had a few trips back to Memphis and Clarksdale from Australia. It was a great relief for them to know that travel was possible, after spending a few years locked down in Australia. 

Of course, the time in Australia brought wonderful experiences and beautiful memories. 

Like the adventure of being real-life-experienced caravaners after picking up Puff the Magic Wagon from Bowtop Wagons in Queensland and spending time with their beloved pet, Jelly Bean whilst in Daylesford.

International travel in 2022 was a mix of business at The Holy Moly in Clarksdale and keeping up with special family occasions.

And the music of Table Hill plays on.....

 

 

Getting Out and About!

After a couple of years of staying in one place, Adrian Kosky and Carla Maxwell, are starting the new year by getting out on the road and playing up along the way.

It's been nearly a year since the last post, so it's time to share a few Table Hill videos.

International Play Music on the Porch Day was during a time in Victoria's lock-down. Luckily, the beauty of Table Hill rd provided a comfy place to be and to make a couple of selfie videos to celebrate the day.

Music on the Road

Adrian and Carla have spent a few weeks traveling north from Daylesford up to the Blue Mountains, visiting friends and playing music along the way.

Table Hill at The Holy Moly

Adrian & Carla have returned to Clarksdale, Mississippi. They plan to play in the U.S.A. through mid-November 2017.

Playing in Port Fairy

Last month Adrian and Carla did a bit of busking at the Port Fairy Markets during Australia Day weekend in Port Fairy, Victoria. Adrian's brother, Kevin, sang and played along. Money earned busking was spent on food from the market stalls immediately! Thank you for the fun, Port Fairy Markets!

Adrian and Carla have been playing at the Radio Springs Hotel since returning to Australia last September.

Here's a little look at the music made in the centre of the universe:

Playing Up In Lyonville

Last Thursday, Adrian and Carla enjoyed playing up in Lyonville at the Radio Springs Hotel. It was a special Thai Night, for sure. The restaurant and bar were completely full, with everyone enjoying the delights of Thai Night in a small town in country Victoria.

One of the highlights of the evening was seeing the 18 dog walkers having dinner together. The members of the group were gathering to celebrate the long life of the oldest dog in their doggy network: dog walkers from Victoria Park in Daylesford. The old dog had lived a long life and recently passed; he was gone, but he was definitely not forgotten. His memory was being celebrated with the joy of kindred spirits having fun -- it was party time for the faithful dog walkers -- the sounds of laughter and happy chatter coming from the main dining room, combined with the scurrying and dashing staff, created a peppy, lively, vibe with Table Hill music that honoured one man's best friend.

Carla had a moment to snap an over-the-shoulder selfie.

Table Hill music has returned to Table Hill road! What a beautiful place to be!

Adrian and Carla are grateful for being able to spend the past six months in the Mississippi Delta, but they're happy to be back! Life in Clarksdale

The Table Hill trio is still enjoying Clarksdale together. A few days ago, Phil celebrated his 60th birthday with TWO pieces of pie at Resthaven Restaurant, a loved and local family restaurant, just up from the famous crossroads of highways 49 & 61. Happy Birthday, Phil!

Soaking up the culture of Clarksdale, as well as adding a lot to it, Phil and Adrian recently played during a breakfast hour at the Bluesberry Cafe, which is just around the corner and a few doors down from The Holy Moly. It's a great little place for travellers, as well as locals, to hear the blues on weekend mornings and every Monday night.

There's been a bit more music played on Third Street in Clarksdale, since Phil arrived -- starting at The Holy Moly and ending at Deak Harp's place, "Mississippi Saxophones and Blues Emporium." Table Hill is looking forward to seeing and hearing Deak Down Under -- what a great name for a blues harp tour! 

Carla continues her blogging and recording and appreciating the fact that there's a little more music in Mississippi since Phil arrived.
